Details

Isla Lobos is a small flat island, located 10 kilometers northeast of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, on the coast of Isla San Cristobal. The name of Isla Lobos is given because it is home to several sea lions having fun on the beach and their brown stripes on the white sand. It is also the ideal place to observe frigates and blue-footed boobies. It has a protected channel where you can dive with sea lions.

The island of Lobos is a small and quiet island separated by a channel of Isla San Cristobal. Introduce the coastal vegetation to saltwater tolerant plants, where you can see a small colony of common frigates, there are also lions, blue-footed boobies, a beautiful natural breakwater and other botanical, ecological and recreational attractions.

​It has a track of 850 meters and the estimated time is an hour of travel. The route passes through an area of ​​dry vegetation, a substrate of volcanic rocks and a sandy area.

On Lobos Island you can see the two species of wolves present in the archipelago. Sea lions and seal skins or known sea lions. As the name suggests in Latin, sea lions are related to the California sea lion, while the seal has its origins in Antarctica.

The Galapagos sea lion is also known for its wolf hair. The males have a ridge and can weigh about 250 kg, the females reach 110 kg. The color of their fur varies from grey to dark brown, depending on sex and age.

Also on Isla de Lobos you can see marine iguanas, Chatham lava lizards, blue paws, swallowtail gulls, spinning stones, common sandpiper, maría canaria, zayapa, Galapagos sea lion.

During the tour around the island Lobos panga can see brown pelicans, several species of shore birds, in contrast to the surface while diving is the common presence of juvenile sea lions, rays and sea turtles.
